WTW Staff

Up until 2000 WTW operated almost entirely on a voluntary basis, with committee members devoting their time whenever possible. WTW now has 4 full time staff: a project co-ordinator, education officer, marine centre assistant and field officer.

Steve Trott and Jane Spilsbury are the management team. Steve is a marine zoologist who has worked on sea turtle and marine conservation projects for a number of years and is an experienced volunteer manager.

Jane, Steve's wife is a lawyer who has left life in London to put her skills to work in conservation.
Nelson Mwamburi, runs the Local Ocean Marine Centre. He is the longest serving member of staff at WTW.

Kahindi Changawa is our field manager. Kahindi is a local, with excellent community knowledge and experience in working with sea turtles.

Jonathan Mramba, also a local, is our field officer. His father was a respected 'Maganga' or Witch Doctor – so don't annoy him! Jonathan is a former fishermen with a great knowledge of the area.

Alison Cameron is a director of ARC, a UK based non-profit making organisation, which is supporting LOT by managing our volunteer administration in the UK.
